A common misconception is that the thickest glove is always the best in winter. In practice, we often find the opposite to be true. If the glove is too thick, many riders lose their feel for the reins and unconsciously tense their hands and forearms more. If you’re looking for a more affordable all-around model, the Equipage Action Stretch 2.0 is a great alternative. The lightweight upper provides optimal freedom of movement, while the synthetic palm and extra reinforcements in high-wear areas ensure a stable grip and long-lasting durability.
As temperatures rise, the requirements for gloves change significantly.
Here, breathability is the top priority. Breathable riding gloves help wick heat away from your hands, preventing sweaty palms and ensuring a secure grip throughout your ride.
That’s why we focus particularly on combinations of mesh, Lycra, and breathable materials. Mesh panels increase airflow, while the elastic materials follow the hand’s natural movements and provide a snug fit without feeling tight.
Models such as Equipage Terina, Equipage Temika, Equipage Kenji, and Catago Hybrid have been developed specifically for this purpose. They are all lightweight summer riding gloves, but each has its own strengths. Terina prioritizes maximum ventilation with large air mesh panels, while Catago Hybrid combines mesh with temperature-regulating materials.
Mesh does not necessarily make the glove less durable. The most exposed areas are still made of synthetic grip materials, while mesh is primarily used on the back of the hand to increase ventilation.
Winter riding gloves need to do much more than just keep your hands warm.
They must also maintain a good feel for the reins, provide a secure grip, and offer protection against wind, rain, and snow. That’s why we make different types of winter riding gloves - because one size doesn’t fit all Riders.
If you ride regularly during the winter, models like Catago Elite Winter, Equipage Evian, or Equipage Vica are obvious choices. They combine insulating materials like Thinsulate with flexible outer materials, so you stay warm without the gloves being unnecessarily bulky.
For riders who spend many hours riding outdoors or whose hands often get cold, the Catago FIR-Tech Bay or the heated Catago FIR-Tech Pro riding gloves may be a better choice. These combine insulation with FIR-Tech technology, while the Pro model also features built-in heating elements with adjustable heat settings. White riding gloves are the classic choice for competitions - especially in dressage. In addition to their elegant look, they must still provide the same precise grip and comfort as a training glove. That’s why you’ll find both Catago Elite, Equipage Terina, Kenji, and Larissa in white versions.

Synthetic materials are now the first choice for the vast majority of modern riding gloves. They are durable, lightweight, and require far less maintenance than classic leather gloves. At the same time, many synthetic gloves are machine-washable, making them practical for everyday use.
Another area we prioritize highly is the palm. Materials with a practical silicone grip or synthetic grip surfaces provide a secure grip on reins and help reduce wear in the areas where stress is greatest. Several models also feature extra reinforcements between the thumb and index finger, where the palm typically wears out the fastest.
