The Icelandic horse is a descendant of the horses and ponies brought to Iceland by the Vikings way back in the ninth and tenth centuries. The breed has been purebred for 1,000 years and the island's sometimes harsh climate has helped shape the Icelandic horse into a compact, frugal and hardy breed. The Icelandic horse is known for its two extra gaits, the tölt and the walk. The Icelandic horse has been very successful in Denmark and enjoys great popularity. That's why you'll find riding equipment specifically for the Icelandic horse here at Unamari.
We continuously design, produce and develop our wide range of products, all of which you'll find here at Unamari. Our Icelandic horse brands are Catago and Horse Guard.

Other pads are without if this is not needed for you and your Icelandic horse. Catago FIR-Tech has anti-inflammatory and warming effect from ceramic particles.
Icelandic bridles
The Catago Raja bridle and the Catago Runa bridle are two Icelandic bridles from Catago. The Raja bridle has a detachable headband and noseband, which is adorned with a single row of crystal stones. The Runa bridle has stones on the removable browband allowing you to match the browband with your other gear, as well as a classic leather noseband.
Both bridles are anatomical bridles for Icelandic horses, made from soft Italian leather. The neckpiece is designed to fit softly to the horse's ear base. The bridles have an adjustable leather strap with top buckle that grips the neckpiece to prevent downward pressure on the horse's head. The noseband is specially shaped to allow full freedom of cheekbone and jaw movement. And it does not obstruct the position or function of the bit. The noseband is equipped with two attachments for the ratchet strap to minimize pressure on the nasal bone. Both the headpiece and noseband have a nice thin padded lining to further relieve pressure on the neck and prevent compression of the sensitive facial nerves that surround the cheekbones and upper jaw.
Reins for Icelandic horses
If you're looking for new reins for your Icelandic horse, we can also help. You'll find both leather reins and anti-slip reins with gun hooks for attachment to the bit, which are traditionally very popular for this particular group of horses.
Catago Icelandic girth
We also offer a delicious leather girth of the highest quality. The girth has elastic in the middle to prevent a crooked pull. It also has stainless steel roller buckles that make it comfortable for both you and your horse when tightening the girth. The girth comes in black leather in lengths of 35 cm, 40 cm and 45 cm.
Icelandic harnesses
Many Icelandic horses in Denmark enjoy their life in loose housing and spend a lot of time outside all year round. They traditionally grow a thick coat, so getting your Icelandic horse ready for a ride can sometimes be quite a task when it has been out in the rain, sleet and snow during the fall and winter months. Don't let that put you off though, because here at Unamari we have a huge selection of grooming products. Not least the popular Horse Guard Tractor Icelandic grooming brush, which is incredibly suitable for long, thick and dirty coats.
Icelandic horse rugs
Although a very large number of Icelandic horses live a life with their natural coat all year round, it can also sometimes be relevant to look at the range of Icelandic rugs for those who own an Icelandic horse. Maybe your horse suffers from summer eczema and you need an eczema rug, you find it practical to use a rain rug sometimes, or other types of turn-out rugs. you want to treat your horse to a Catago FIR-Tech rug or other products in our Catago FIR-Tech range.
