Breeches or riding tights are actually probably the piece of riding clothing that makes the biggest difference to the rider's comfort and experience on horseback. Breeches not only fit optimally for riding, but the silicone gripper helps to ensure a good grip in the saddle. Whether the child is a beginner or an experienced rider, breeches are essential for the junior to have the most comfortable ride and perform at their best.

Unamari has the best kids riding tights - what should you look for?

The best kids riding tights are easy to get in and out of, and they are in a material and fit that provides great mobility. Full grip is best because it makes it easier to stay in the saddle, and it's a good idea to choose breeches that can be adjusted at the waist.

And price is also often a factor. When it comes to breeches for children who grow quickly, it's very nice that the breeches don't cost a small fortune. Our selection of Equipage riding tights for kids are both affordable and good quality. They range in price from 399-699. However, the most important thing when choosing children's breeches is to dress your child well for the sport and support them both morally and with equipment that makes riding fun and enjoyable.

Breeches or tights for children?

The easiest breeches for children to handle are breeches. They are also super comfortable and flexible in both the waist and the material of the breeches. At Unamari, we only carry riding tights for children, and we have several different colors and models - all with full grip.

Riding tights are pull-on breeches. This means that the child can pull the breeches on and off themselves and that the waistband is wonderfully flexible and elastic. The material in breeches is also typically the most stretchy, and especially for children, who are often active and full of energy, excellent mobility and comfort are well spent.

When we only make fullgrip for children, it's because our experience is that breeches with fullgrip are the very best and most comfortable for children to ride in. Fullgrip with silicone print gives a good helping hand to stay in place and at the same time leaves more capacity and energy for practicing everything else that needs to be learned on horseback.

Our silicone grips for children come in several different cute prints. For example, prints with stirrups or stars. All our grips are super good and durable silicone grips. Our grips are always thoroughly tested by test riders before they go on sale on breeches. That way we know the grip is effective, comfortable and durable.

White breeches for kids - get ready for a competition

If your child is going to a competition, you'll need a pair of off-white or white breeches or tights, which are traditionally worn at competitions. However, it's actually up to you what color breeches your child rides in at D and E level jumping competitions.

Find the right size with a good fit

When choosing the size and fit of children's riding pants, look at the child's current size. It's easy to think in terms of growing room when it comes to children, but breeches need to fit snugly or they won't be comfortable. In addition, we have an adjustable waistband in all our kids' breeches.

The sizes of our kids' breeches run in regular children's sizes - i.e. 92 to 146 - and the fit is adapted to the size.

As for fit, breeches should fit snugly and the material is super stretchy. All our kids' riding tights have an adjustable waistband, where you can move the button in the elastic on the inside of the waistband, which you probably know from other regular children's clothing.

The material of our riding tights is 4-way stretch, and as a rule of thumb, the smoother the surface, the more dirt-repellent they are. Most of the riding tights you'll find for kids are made of polyester and elastane - a highly stretchy, flexible and comfortable combination.

Breeches for teens

Breeches for teenagers or big kids cover sizes 152 to 176, and Unamari carries several models. The vast majority are in the riding tights type, which have the same benefits and fit as our other riding pants for children. Some long teens will also fit the small adult sizes.

Some of the children's models from Equipage go right up to teen sizes. However, there are also models that are not made for smaller children, but only for teens. These include the Kalea riding tights, and the MEN breeches from Equipage, which are regular trousers with button, zipper and a tighter waistband.

Washing instructions riding tights

When washing your riding tights, always remember to check the washing instructions. This will ensure the best durability of your silicone grip and that the performance of the fabric is maintained. At Unamari, we also recommend that you air dry your riding tights after washing. Our riding tights are tested to withstand frequent washing and use.

Riding tights are a form of sportswear, so the rules of thumb for washing sportswear also apply to riding tights. That is: wash with similar colors, never wash above 40 degrees and avoid using fabric softener. However, always follow the washing instructions on the pants you have chosen.
