Riding tights or pants, along with a helmet, are essential equipment for a rider. They allow you to move optimally, provide comfort and help you get a good grip in the saddle. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced rider, breeches are essential. And riding tights are the most modern and innovative way to make pants for riding.
At Unamari you'll find riding tights from Catago and Euipage, of which we are brand owners, designers and developers. This means that at Unamari you'll find a full range from Catago and Equipage and not least expert knowledge about every single product.
What are riding tights?
Riding tights are similar in quality, material and freedom of movement to sports pants or yoga pants, but are specially made for riding and sitting in the saddle. They are pull-on breeches with an elastic waistband, i.e. breeches without buttons and zippers. Riding tights are characterized by being super stretchy and comfortable.
Riding tights are stretchy both lengthwise and crosswise and are made of a thinner, stretchy material; often polyester or polyamide mixed with elastane. Unlike training tights or yoga pants, riding tights usually have silicone grip. Either full grip throughout the seat or knee grip on the inside of the knees. In addition, they have a fit that makes them comfortable when riding and gives you a great starting point for your riding. Riding tights are considered by many riders to be the most flexible and casual riding pants you can jump into.
Are riding tights necessary?
Yes, riding tights or riding pants are necessary if you ride more than just a few times. Riding tights are designed to give you support and comfort while riding. They have no annoying seams and they protect your seat and inner thighs. At the same time, you have mobility and a good grip in the saddle.
Riding tights are designed for ultimate comfort and freedom of movement when you're on horseback. They are made for active riding and are both super flexible and comfortable.

Are riding tights the same as riding leggings and riding leggings?
Riding tights can sometimes be called riding leggings, riding leggings, riding leggings or riding pants tights. Probably because they look like a pair of leggings. "Leggings for riding" may therefore seem an obvious search term. However, riding leggings are a completely different product. So search for riding tights or breeches when you go hunting and you'll find what you're looking for.
But what are riding leggings, you might be wondering? They're a kind of loose bootleg made of suede or leather, for example, that zips around the rider's shin (lower leg).
Riding tights with full grip or knee grip?
When choosing riding tights, you need to decide whether you want them with knee grip or full grip. Grip refers to the material on the inside of the breeches that gives you grip in the saddle. On our riding tights from Catago or Equipage, these are grips made of silicone prints in different shapes.
If you're not familiar with silicone grip, it's comparable to the silicone coating that can be found under socks for small children to prevent them from slipping.
Fullgrip covers the entire seat area and goes down the inside of the legs, providing by far the most grip in the saddle. This type of grip is preferred by many dressage riders in particular, from the beginner to the experienced rider. Knee grip sits on the inside of the knees and can be preferred by riders who need less grip and more freedom of movement. For example, jumping, hunting and long-distance riders. That said, any grip can be used by anyone - it's just a matter of what you're into.
Can you get winter riding tights?
Yes - winter riding tights are a thing, and of course Unamari has several kinds! If you love to ride in riding tights, then you definitely need a pair of warm and lined riding tights for winter use. You can find winter riding tights for women and winter riding tights for children here in the shop.

Take a look at our women's winter riding tights in the Jenny model from Equipage with brushed lining, or the Panola from Catago, which has a super soft teddy lining on the inside - both models have full silicone grip.
If you're looking for winter riding tights for children, take a look at the Java from Equipage, which is made of a thick and breathable material with brushed, soft lining. Of course, our children's winter riding tights also have full silicone grip
White riding tights as competition pants
White riding tights can be used as competition pants. According to DRF regulations, it is entirely up to you whether you prefer off-white or white breeches or white tights. For D and E jumping competitions, there is even a choice in the color of your competition trousers or competition tights.
This means that the most important thing when choosing white riding tights for competition use is that they have a good fit on you, that your competition tights have the right grip for your preferences and that they give you comfort so you can concentrate on performing with your horse.
In particular, our white River riding tights from Catago are loved by many competition riders for their high waistband and extremely good fit.
You can also read more about the various guidelines for competition clothing on the Danish Equestrian Federation's website, where the individual regulations are located.
Riding tights with cell phone pocket and other pockets
Riding tights generally have good, large pockets that make it easy and comfortable to carry your phone. For example. a large cell phone pocket on the outer thigh, and several smaller pockets. These include pockets that can be used for keys or items that need extra care. If you are looking for breeches with a mobile pocket, riding tights may be the solution.
Size guide for riding tights
If you are unsure which size to choose for your riding tights, you can measure your waist circumference, your hip circumference at the widest point and your leg length on the inside from upper inner thigh to ankle. Follow the instructions on our size guide. You will find the measurements of the individual breeches under the products.
As a rule of thumb, go for your normal size, as our riding tights from Catago and Equipage are all customized for optimal size, length and fit.
How durable is silicone grip?
The durability of our riding tights is very good. When you buy riding tights, and maybe even some expensive ones, you want them to last. All our grips are tested to ensure quality and durability, so you don't end up with a pair of riding tights where the silicone grip wears off prematurely.
All our breeches and riding tights are tested by our test riders, so we know that they live up to the quality they should have in grip and materials. They are tested both in riding, after several washes and in the life you live around horses and ponies.
